The center of Eger is often called "the Baroque Pearl of Europe". Here are located the Dobó square, the main square of the historical town, surrounded by Baroque houses and the St. Anthony Church. Other historical buildings include the Cathedral and the Lyceum. From the Dobó square, you can walk down the winding, cobble-stone streets to the castle, which dominates the town. A tour of the casemates inside is a welcome break from the summer heat.
During the Eger tours, you are open to a whole lot of sightseeing. Eger is renowned not only for its vineyards but also for its thermal baths. The Archbishop's Garden is the best place for visitors to unwind in the natural swimming pools and hot thermal baths. The Eger Castle is a beautiful medieval castle on the small hill that overlooks the entire city. A cathedral and the Bishop's Palace dating from the 13th century are the other attractive must visits. The Dobó Istvan Fortress Museum is one of the most popular museums in Hungary. The Heroes' Hall next to it should also not be missed during the Eger tours. Near the Eger are very nice places: Kékes, Parád, Szilvásvárad, Mezőkövesd, Hortobágy.

Best part is the Valley of Beautiful Women, the famous wine district that must be visited. There are rows of wine cellars producing local wine. Combined with song and dance of locals and tourists alike, it's the best way to end the evening. Many will allow you to sample their wines for free or for very little cost.
